Cougars, based in Harold Wood Essex, were formed in 1993, essentially for boys and girls who wanted to play football in a friendly environment. The club has grown rapidly and is one of only a few clubs in Havering to achieve Charter Standard Award, which is best pratice guide run by the Football Association that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
At present, the club provides the opportunity to play football and offer quality coaching for over 140 youngsters.
We have at the moment eight teams competing in the Chelmsford League,and some very promising youngsters in the 4 to 6 years age group.
The club is a member of the Harold Wood Sports Association, which includes Harold Wood Athletic FC and Harold Wood Cricket Club.
At the moment the Association is actively trying to rebuild the clubhouse which was the subject of an arson attack in October 2005 and completely destroyed the building.
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
