A REALLY GREAT TEAM DISPLAY AGAINST A DECENT SIDE!!
Our trip to Iford Rec (Dump) was never going to make or break our season, yes we were up against potentially the best side in the league in Portcastrian, but it would certainly tell us quite a bit about where we are as a team.
Grant went in alongside Harry, with Andy missing, and Daisy came in at full back. otherwise it was how were set up last time out.
We spoke about everyone being 100% committed all over the pitch, and we definitely were just that, all around the team.
Marc was again solid, reliable and confident and fully concentrated, as for long periods he never saw the ball!!
The result, in the end was built around our defence.
Dan, Harry and Grant were all in the outstanding category, and Harry`s cross for Charlie`s goal had to be seen to be believed!!
Charlie took a while to run off the effects of a heavy night, but the second half saw him really come into his own, and his goal was a really good indication of what he has bought to our side.
We don`t miss Glyn quite as bad with him in the team. That is some compliment!!!
Sam was our Man Of The Match, and was sublime from the start. He mixed some great passing (as per) with some really tough tackling this week, and his effort exceeded any performance by him so far this term. His partnership with Charlie is getting stronger every game, and they really do seem to bring out the best in one another.
Dan Rav also enjoyed his best performance for a long while, and it was such a pity that he couldn`t cap his performance with a goal.
All the best chances came our way, especially in the final 30 minutes, when Dan, the ever impressive Benj, and subs Rob and Sam all could quite easikly have wrapped up the points.
After a goalless first half, where we dug in at times, and chased every ball, and tackled like tigers!!?? it was good to once again see the three subs come in and make an impact in th second period.
Sean, Rob and Sam all contributed towards a hard fought point, as did the the lads they replaced in Frank, Daisy and Paul.
Jamie was the unlucky one this week who never got on, but he was invaluable with his effort running the line, which as we all know is a pretty thankless task.
That is the best thing about this group though, in that whoever plays, the ones on the line are fully behind them!!!
Fordingbridge at Chapel Gate next week, and forget the league postions, this will be another tough match, and we must approach it with the same intensity as we did this week at Iford.
